Between the Lines
Instagram Stories is pretty much a replica of Snapchat Stories. However, they have added several features unique to Instagram Stories. The latest is a new polling feature exclusive to Instagram Stories, which allows you to ask your followers simple questions. Followers are able to respond to the poll just by tapping on the button that corresponds with their desired answer. It is important to note that the polling sticker has to be applied over a photo or video, so it’d be wise to keep in mind that the poll will cover over a decent chunk of your photo or video.
This polling feature will be valuable moving forward, especially for businesses, as it allows them to capture simple a/b feedback in a casual format. This feedback can help gauge interest for future Instagram posts. The default yes/no answers can be customized to anything you want, although you’re currently limited to only two answers.
During the poll, you’ll be able to see analytics including percentages, how many votes for choice a and choice b, and even who vote for a particular answer. Do remember that these polls, along with your story, expire after 24 hours. Be sure to screenshot any results!
You can apply the polls feature in Instagram by creating a new story, and tapping the stickers button. In there you’ll see the new polling feature!
